Johanna Faust, a mixed race Jew, prefers to publish pseudonymously. She is committed: first, to preventing war, ecological disaster, and nuclear apocalypse; last to not only fighting for personal privacy & the freedom of information, but, by representing herself as a soldier in that fight, to exhorting others to do the same. She is a poet, always. All these efforts find representation here: "ah, Mephistophelis" is so named after the last line of Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus, whose heretical success flouted the censor for a time.

M.W.K.P.A. | Leonard Cohen: "Democracy"

Well come, Gentle Reader, to another installment of Music What Kicketh Political Ass. This is inspired by my acquaintance with The Right Honorable Anonymous' recent press release -- do go and click the link -- but -- it is recommended you do so after (or before) this politico-musico-litero-philosophickall interlude.  As usual, the copyright-noninfringing, record-industry-promoting, M.W.K.P.A.-enabling widget is located unobtrusively at the bottom of this page, courtesy of Grooveshark.  Scroll down, click, scroll back, and enjoy.  Let us hope current events portend Mr. Cohen's prophetic accuracy......

Be seeing you.

Tsunami Engulfs Japan, Threatens All Pacific Rim
(VIDEO ROUNDUP)

And that means me; I'm below the tenth floor....

Will hit SF at 8:08 am.  Must check on Hawaii. I am now listening to the tsunami warning targeting me.  33 foot waves in Japan, unthinkable, salting all the  farmland in slow motion, ruining the airports, tossing cars like toys. In Japan they issued a tsunami warning within three minutes of the earthquake....

Evacuate...      ..... prepare for flooding.

Here's reposted from the Tribune:

A tsunami could hit the Bay Area this morning but its size has yet to be determined, a National Weather Service official said.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimates that the tsunami could hit Point Arena at 7:26 a.m., Point Reyes at 7:39 a.m., Monterey at 7:44 a.m., and San Francisco at 8:08 a.m.

And this frightening footage from Russia Today:

And worse, from Al Jazeera

some cctv... from japan...

More as it happens -- if I have to go, you know I will have to bring the internet with me...  if  I can ...

God help us.
