Johanna Faust, a mixed race Jew, prefers to publish pseudonymously. She is committed: first, to preventing war, ecological disaster, and nuclear apocalypse; last to not only fighting for personal privacy & the freedom of information, but, by representing herself as a soldier in that fight, to exhorting others to do the same. She is a poet, always. All these efforts find representation here: "ah, Mephistophelis" is so named after the last line of Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus, whose heretical success flouted the censor for a time.

Concerning Revelations and the Deepwater Disaster

btw fasciating article. i wonder how many have wondered about this. after i saw the video where John wathen says "the gulf appears to be bleeding" i wondered...

one third of fish of the sea: are already almost certainly dead. "According to the UN, 30 percent of fish stocks have already collapsed, meaning they yield less than 10 percent of their former potential, while virtually all fisheries risk running out of commercially viable catches by 2050. … "Ocean fish Extict Within 40 Years" (& as an aside, 90% of all large fish are dead... "Globally, 90% of Large Fish Are Gone") so maybe not ALL of the prophecies in revelations need to correlate to the same event to be considered fulfilled... or maybe not...

mountain thrown into the sea: consider the following (not in main stream news but a very reputable source): "There is other satellite imagery being withheld by the Obama administration that shows what lies under the gaping chasm spewing oil at an ever-alarming rate is a cavern estimated to be around the size of Mount Everest. This information has been given an almost national security-level classification to keep it from the public, according to our sources." The Cover-up: BP's Crude Politics and the Looming Environmental Mega-Disaster, by Wayne Madsen.

one third of the ships: "Almost one-third of the world's deepwater rigs are active in the Gulf. " Deepwater Oil Fields Are a Final Frontier.

and to bring these two together - the following is from a rather 'fringe' source (my internal 'jury' is out) - but considering the content, it merits citation:

"Last night on coast to coast am , Richard C. Hoagland, citing insider sources in BP and in U.S. government, said that a gas bubble approximately 15-20 miles across 10+ feet high near the well head of the BP gulf well , had formed and that it may cause a massive explosion within weeks or months.

He said that the pressure at the well was 100,000 psi and that when the gas explodes , it would be like a Mt. St. Helens going off underwater that would create a huge tsunami that would travel at 400-600 mph , sink all vessels within miles, drive the oil , hazardous dispersants, and gasses inland within minutes."

oh, and "chernobyl" means "wormwood" in Ukrainian:

"The city is named after the Ukrainian word for mugwort or wormwood (Artemisia vulgaris), which is "chornobyl"" Chernobyl, Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. As for the fact that this is a star fallen to earth: Remember nuclear power is star-energy -- wood-burning and so called fossil fueld can be considered consumption of the stored energy of our sun; the energy released in a nuclear reaction, however, is energy stored before our sun was born, since our sun is a second-generation star, made out of other stars (and thus containing more complex elements). you can google that for yourselves.

have a nice day.

"Gulf of Mexico oil spill in Bible Prophecy? you decide"

The latest attempt at closing the hemorrhage of oil from a well, one mile deep on the ocean floor in the Gulf of Mexico has failed. (operation Top Kill) The next operation to be attempted will be at least another week in the implementing, and the best fix, (the drilling of relief wells) are at least two months away.

In the prophetic book of Revelation, the apostle John was reporting visions of the end times. In one part of the cryptic prophecy he saw what appeared to be a “mountain” on fire that was “cast into the sea”. It then looked like the water became thick and reddish, with the appearance of the blood of a dead man. By the time it was over, one third of the sea was polluted and one third of the wildlife was killed.

The following are segments of the prophecy:

“And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.” Revelation 8:8

“And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.” Revelation 16:3

Just imagine you are John on the Island of Patmos, almost 2000 years ago. If you had seen what we now recognize as the burning explosion of an oil rig in the middle of the sea, what would you describe it as? Or imagine you were witnessing an oil spill about 2000 years into the future. With your current knowledge at that time how would you describe what the oil looked like on the water? Coagulated blood?

But any one who has grasped the vastness of the sea, would have a hard time imagining one third of the waters polluted and dead.

But consider these alarming facts. The Gulf of Mexico covers approximately 600,000 square miles, measuring approximately 995 miles from east to west, 560 miles from north to south.

The Gulf basin resembles a large pit with a broad shallow rim. The basin contains an approximate volume of 642 trillion gallons with approximately 38% of Gulf waters being shallow intertidal areas, richest in wild life. This sounds like a very large area. However, the pollution ratio of oil to water is that every 1 gallon of oil will ruin 1,000,000 (one million) gallons of water. (per: North Carolina Clean Water Education Partnership)

That means by factoring even the most conservative estimates of the volume of oil that has gushed into the ocean within the first month of this still ambiguous calamity, over 61,000,000,000,000 [Sixty One trillion] gallons of water, or an approximate 10% of the Gulf Of Mexico have been polluted/contaminated so far ....and that is the CONSERVATIVE estimate.

Of course bible prophecy advocates will tell you that the chronology of the prophecies in the book of revelation seem to indicate a sequence of events along a different time line. But the fact I would ask the serious bible scholar to consider is that, if the book of Revelation were to be read as a chronological timeline, it would be the ONLY book of prophecy (with a major portion of Old Testament Scriptures being Bible prophecy) to follow a chronological order. HUM….

That is why some are beginning to view this calamity as of apocalyptic proportion, the significance of which has not even be fully calculated. Biblical Prophecy of the end times? You decide.

Gulf oil spill disaster and Biblical prophecy: Is there a connection?

Posted on June 13, in Political Spin Examiner, by Maryann Tobin

A number of websites and news organizations have begun to relate the Gulf oil spill with predictions of disaster as told in the book of Revelations in the Christian Bible.

Is it crazy doom and gloom theory? Or is there something to it?

Revelation 8:8–11. “The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea became blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed … A third of the waters became wormwood, and many died from the water, because it was made bitter.”

Apart from the spiritual beliefs of individuals, there are similarities in what we are able to see in the Gulf of Mexico now, and what was written then.

Approximately one-third of Gulf waters are now off limits to fishing, and many images of the oil spill resemble an ominous river of red. Thousands of uncounted sea creatures have died and the numbers are still rising. Some patches of surface oil have been set on fire and BP plans to burn more.

The Christian Bible states that the tribulations in Revelation are “judgements” for the evils of humanity: Greed; hatred; bigotry and discrimination against the poor, among other social and ethical ills; all are spoken against in the Bible. Yet all are found in today’s political and social environment.

The Book of Daniel also describes the “End times” through a series of “visions.”

Daniel 8:17-25. “Understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.” Of evil world leaders it says, “He will cause astounding devastation.. and will cause deceit to prosper and he will consider himself superior.”

There is evidence to suggest that while the middle class continues to shrink and corporate interests seize more power, many of the rich consider themselves superior to the poor. Deceit on the part of lenders and investors was at the heart of the housing market and financial collapse of 2008. As for astounding devastation - one only needs to look as far as the Gulf of Mexico to see the untold catastrophe unfold.

Believers in the Christian Bible have a foundation on which to base their apocalyptic theories as it relates to the Gulf oil spill, along with other foretold events taking place in our world today. “Earthquakes in various places", violence, upheaval, starvation and other natural disasters, are all referenced as signs of the apocalypse in the Books of Revelation and Daniel.

Whether the Gulf oil spill is truly part of Biblical prophecy or a mere coincidence will likely be debated until the answer becomes clear.

Regardless of the basis for the events, there are global problems that tie our world together as never before - for better and for worse, and there are few simultaneous threats that compare to the financial, social and environmental issues we are facing today.

We are living in a time when history cannot repeat itself, because we have never experienced anything like this before.

Be seeing you.
